At NeoCon 2018: Snowsound offers Sound Solutions
If you ventured up to the 7th floor at NeoCon last week you would have been obliged to pass through the Snowsound Quiet Zone located in the central 7th floor pass-thru. The display of upholstered panels demonstrates quite aptly-on this, likely the noisiest space in the Merchant Mart-that it's possible to suck sound away and deliver an "architecturally inspired acoustic haven."
Interest piqued, you may have then ventured to Booth 5022 (for a demonstration and a much-needed shot of Italian Espresso!) where you would have found Snowsound's entire menagerie of acoustic damping solutions.
From panels, to fibers, and fiber textiles, the technology remains basically the same-combinations of different densities of polyester and a patented Trevira CS polyester surface-to absorb unwanted vibrations and amplify the sound you want to hear, with an unmistakable clarity.
Snowsound's acoustical solutions have no internal frame or support, lending them to a variety of forms and configurations: "streamlined shapes can be created in many ways, as free-standing or wall and ceiling-mounted to create beautiful customized spaces."
Within the beautiful spaces and compelling simulations found at Snowsound, the one that most piqued my interest was the six-sided steel chamber with drapes for drawing. The now-you-hear-it, now-you-don't effect was quite palpable, as the acoustical textiles covered the steel walls, eliminating echoes and allowing the expression of human vocabulary-as clear as a bell amid the surrounding din.
