Plumen Launches Its Groundbreaking 003 Bulb
Thomas Edison invented the light bulb more than a century ago; presumably, he was focused more on functionality than aesthetics. Now, years later, lighting design giant Plumen has created a groundbreaking light bulb that elevates the humble bulb, making it a design element in its own right.
Designed by British design company HULGER, lighting designer Claire Norcross, and jewelry designer Marie Laure Giroux, this highly engineered, dimmable LED light bulb features a gold element with a faceted surface pattern that mimics that of a gemstone. The bulb has dual functionality and serves as a warm accent light on its sides and as a spotlight to the surface below. It has a lifespan of 10,000 hours.
Currently the 003 is only available in the United States through an exclusive partnership with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, however reservations for orders are available for worldwide customers.
