Speetbox by Philippe Starck for SPEETA
The Speetbox by Philippe Starck for French company SPEETA is a 100% airtight wood-burning stove that meets low-consumption construction criteria (BBC). It is also exceptionally stylish and practical, due to its modularity.
Unlike traditional wood stoves, Speetbox offers energy efficiency and clean combustion, producing three times less dust than a conventional stove (and up to 150 times less than a fireplace). Emissions from burning wood are also greatly reduced-"divided by three compared to those of a conventional stove," according to SPEETA.
All this is great news for anyone who likes the affordability and warmth of a wood stove. But to top it all off, Speetbox-like other Philippe Starck products-looks great. In fact, it goes beyond that by revolutionizing the concept of a wood stove altogether. The modular components make Speetbox a design element that can dominate or complement any room, regardless of size.
A box filled with stones is lovely to look at, but it serves a purpose: the stones accumulate heat and gradually diffuse it for more than 24 hours once the stove has been stopped. Other boxes, which can double as seating, include storage space for logs or books. Speetbox is also controllable by smartphone.
