Mad for m.a.d.’s Design Forward Furniture
Generally when people think of Asian based manufacturing, design copies or poorly made ‘inspired by’ furniture comes to mind. Matt Cole and Dan Given set out to change that when they founded m.a.d. in 2010. With each having a background in Asian furniture production, and themselves living in Asia, they established a design and curation studio in Chicago headed by Creative Director Mark Daniel, and their international collaboration has resulted in a stunningly original, high quality collection of seating, tables, casegoods, and shelving designs that ship to more than 25 countries.
The collection, which credits both Scandinavian and Japanese design as influences, is perfectly suited not just for home use, but as an affordable options for hospitality projects.
The attention to detail in areas such as the specific design of the Airfoil table legs, and the feet of chairs is something often overlooked in Asian manufacturing, but not so with m.a.d., whose founders actually live in Asia and oversee production and quality control.
m.a.d. will be exhibiting at ICFF at booth #2066 (L1). For more information, visit their website at www.madfurnituredesign.com
