Studio Drift Creates Albedo Suspension Lamp for FontanaArte
Inspired by an installation in Dubai in 2012, Studio Drift's Albedo for FontanaArte's suspension lamp is reminiscent of the fluid movements of jellyfish.
Cleverly laser cutting the fabric, then folded and stitched to create the shade itself, the material is then mounted onto the metal structured base. The result is multifaceted, unusual shapes that move with the grace of the sea creatures that inspired it.
The light source is housed inside a central cylindrical volume in polycarbonate, which produces a warm light that the fabric diffuser helps to reflect and radiate. The cylinder has an upper cover, which is easy to remove when the bulb needs replacing.
