Nendo’s “Opening Doors” For Japanese Manufacturer Abe Kyogo
Adding to their impressive repertoire of interior projects, Nendo have recently designed a showroom to display doors and fixtures for Abe Kogyo, a leading Japanese wooden door manufacturer.
The design studio worked under the fitting theme of 'opening doors', showcasing the client's products in a circular arrangement that encourages visitors walk through each door as they follow the flow of the radial installations.
Nendo's unique display solution ensures there is enough space needed to exhibit the doors, while giving a sense of movement and excursion to the showroom.
This innovative exhibition allows the doors to be accessed from either side to allow prospective buyers to experience the doors in their entirety; testing their mechanisms and soundproofing quality, while viewing them from inside and out by using the door as one would in the comfort of their own home.
The product details of each door are vertically written on the cross section of the doors' walls, with icons indicating the relevant catalogue and according page numbers to help visitors have a stress-free browsing experience.
Nendo also re-designed the Abe Kogyo logo to mark the manufacturer's 70th anniversary.
An icon representative of a 'door' was created by using the form of the first Kanji character of the company's name, combining it with the acronym 'A' for the English translation of Abe Kogyo.
