Fire-Inspired: Lighting Trend
Primitive light sources such as campfires, lanterns and candles inspire these lighting designs, which aim to recreate the flowing shapes and radiant glow of naked flames.
Launched earlier this year by Italian brand Serralunga, the Flame lamp by Sebastian Bergne is an outdoor lamp made from rotational moulded polypropylene. In addition, the flame-shaped lamp is also 100% recyclable and UV-resistant.
Featuring a flame-shaped blown glass shade and a cross-shaped solid wood base, the playful Fire Kit Lamp by French studio 5.5 designers for Skitsch resembles a camp fire.
With a large flat aluminum reflector disc positioned above its light source, the Balloon lamp by Uli Budde for Vertigo Bird resembles a small hot air balloon. In fact, the design was inspired by antique oil lamps and candle holders and throws out a warm glow.
Meaning flame in Finnish, the Leimu lamps by Magnus Pettersen for Iittala have a warm amber glass diffuser set on a cast concrete base.
The Log lamp by Jari Nyman & Olli Mustikainen is inspired by the warm ambiance created by a wood-burning fire. Simply press the top of the wooden brick to turn on its embedded light source.
