Italian designer Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba has created a series of rugs for Italian rug brand Nodus that interrupt traditional Persian carpets with new contemporary patterns.

Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba’s ‘Double Layer’ rugs layer vibrant geometric patterns on top of traditional Persian rug designs.

Woven in wool with a 5 mm pile height, the ‘Double Layer’ rugs for Nodus are made using a stencil technique that allows the traditional decorative Persian patterns to show through underneath the new layer of bright geometric pattern.
