Code Series by Suzanne Tick for Tandus Centiva
A brilliant paradigm shift in office design, Code Series by Suzanne Tick for Tandus Centiva allows designers to define space without the need for pesky walls that "close us off, box us in, and shut everyone else out." A carpet system of coordinating modular tiles in geometric patterns, Code Series includes Code and Code Transition, as well as other patterns. The color and layout of Code and Code Transition allow architects, designers, and clients to demarcate spaces for specific purposes. These carpet tiles establish "a new type of spatial etiquette."
Floor Space Becomes a New Code to Live and Work By
Code comes in a 24" x 24" tile format in 16 colors that range from neutral to brilliant, including subdued hues like Agate, Bough, and Gossan and jewel tones like Deep Blue, Citrine, and Cranberry. The clever link in the series is Code Transition, which blends two colors in one tile. Combinations take spaces from one hue to another without creating jarring blocks of color. By using pixel-like rectangles of varying colors, Code Transition pays homage to technology-driven work while also blending colors beautifully.
Coordinates include Megacode, the same pattern as Code but much larger, and Macroblock, which blends rectangles, squares, and lines. See the video on the designer’s vision at Vimeo.
