Urbem by Christopher Jenner
Launched earlier this year at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Christopher Jenner’s Urbem lighting collection blends the character of 19th century Milanese street lighting with LED technology.
Christopher Jenner’s Urbem lighting collection pushes the boundaries of the art of glass blowing.
Made up of 8-pieces, the Urbem collection, meaning ‘City’, is hand crafted in triple layered opal glass. The innovative convex and concave glass shades are hung from decorative steel chains with a wireless LED power source integrated into the design.
"I am inspired by the innovation of 19th century Europe where craft and technology collided to create many of the iconic hallmarks of the present day,” says Christopher Jenner of the design. “Our future potential lies in uniting the achievements of our past with the possibilities of our contemporary age, as demonstrated through this collection."
In Milan, the Urbem collection was presented as an installation entitled 'The Cloud’ that simulated the effects of an electrical storm. The impressively sized, 400mm x 600mm pendants were hung en masse, reflected in a stainless steel vortex.
