Rod + Weave Chair by Eric Trine
Eric Trine's Rod + Weave Chair
is simplicity at its finest. Not only is the aesthetic determined by the form (Van der Rohe would be pleased), but the essence of the piece is embodied in the very name.
Rod + Weave Melds Geometric and Hexagonal Forms
Trine's Rod + Weave is, essentially, a series of durable leather straps woven around a steel frame of intersecting hexagons. The look recalls many a summer-time lounger from my youth. I'm thinking of the iconic fold-able aluminum chairs with woven flexible plastic or fabric.
While I have a sentimental spot for the latter, Trine's Rod + Weave is definitely an improvement-it refines the basic (and typically, cheaply made) premise into a functional, durable piece of craftsmanship with a modern look and pronounced textural appeal.
Rod + Weave's solid hex rod frame comes standard in powder-coated black or white and natural vegetable oil-tanned leather. Custom colors are available. For further info., contact Eric Trine at etrine@gmail.com.
