ICFF 2014: Blu Dot
At this year’s ICFF, Minneapolis-based designer and maker Blu Dot previewed over a dozen new pieces that will be added to its extensive portfolio of modern home furnishings this year.
Combining a dark wood frame with quilted upholstery, the elegant Wicket lounge chair and stool are evocative of midcentury Danish design.
The Clutch dining chair has a simple rounded wooden frame and welcoming, wrap-around upholstered arms that are now available in leather and this striking fire engine red.
Four bright green, angular legs support the Right Round table’s perfectly round marble top.
Showcased in a new vibrant green color, the simple but surprisingly comfortable seat of the Real Good chair is made from a single sheet of laser-cut, powder-coated metal that’s folded into shape.
With its low, linear profile and clean, straight lines, the Mono sofa would fit well in both residential as well as contract interiors.
The fine stainless steel frames of the Minimalista coffee and console tables create sculptural 3D cube and cuboid outlines.
Functioning as both a desk and a console table, the Swish Console desk has a sliding top that can conceal or reveal more work space. It also features a pencil and/or junk drawer and a helpful a cord management slot.
Table top clutter can be stored away inside the U-shaped wooden frame of the Cub coffee table. Topped with a sheet of smoked glass, Cub is elevated on graceful brass legs.
Named after it’s split, two-piece frame, the Amicable Split bench provides a comfortable, gently angled seat.
Avalable in three finishes and two different shapes, the graceful Trace Pendant Lamps are composed of subtly tinted glass shades that rest upon metal pendants. The result is a simple, yet eye-catching layering of material and form.
Extending Blu Dot’s popular Hot Mesh outdoor furniture line, this new low-lying lounge chair and footstool feature the same decorative lattice pattern that characterizes the collection.
Combining frameless polished mirrors and solid wood details, the Peggy Mirror and Last Chance Mirror celebrate simplicity and craftsmanship.
