When designing the Aya armchair, owner of Branca Lisboa, Marco Sousa Santos, wanted to achieve “Lightness.”

Aya is a lightweight armchair expertly crafted from in beech or walnut in Portugal by Branca Lisboa.

Composed of slim and sculpted pieces of wood, the Aya armchair’s frame has been pared back, using the minimum amount of material to maximum effect. Knowing that the flexibility of the wood is a structural advantage, Santos created the Aya chair like a “dancer with a delicate fragile body, bending but never breaking.”

Aya is available in beech or walnut with the seat available in wood or leather.
