Working in collaboration with architect and designer William McDonough, Patcraft created Butterfly Effect, a modular carpet tile for high-traffic areas. A percentage of sales (from December 2013 until December 2018) will go directly to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital "to help further the hospital's lifesaving mission." From a conceptual and design standpoint, Butterfly Effect focuses on the butterfly's beauty. In smaller areas, the butterfly-inspired design offers a "fractal view," while in large-scale installations "a full butterfly wing comes into stunning view." Additionally, the idea behind the carpet is "like the tiny flutter of a butterfly's wing creating a reverberating effect that can be felt halfway around the world," explains McDonough.

Previewed at the 2013 Healthcare Design Conference in Orlando, Florida, Butterfly Effect has already garnered praise and awards for Patcraft, including the 2013 Nightingale Gold Award sponsored by Contract Magazine.
