Cala and Maranga Collections by Marset
The Barcelona-based lighting company Marset channels contemporary design with its new Cala and Maranga Collections. Created in collaboration with two different designers, the new collections are built to cast light in such a way that a warm, inviting atmosphere is made.
The Cala collection was designed by Joan Gaspar and draws inspiration from the simplicity of the artist’s easel. It’s made of a varnished oak structure, a white polyester shade made of PVC-PET laminated film, and a methacrylate diffuser. Available in three sizes – 55-, 65-, and 77-inch – this lamp filters light with textured nuances using its shade which is enclosed in a zipped Textilene sleeve. The Cala collection is available in suspension, table, and floor models.
Christophe Mathieu designed the Maranga collection, which takes its name from an imaginary fruit and reinterprets Scandinavian style through its shape. Its personality comes through its shade, literally and figuratively, as the shade is made of 32 polycarbonate, slice-like pieces that fit together and allow slivers of like to shine through. This interplay of light and shadow that minimizes glare, while its bottom provides direct light via an opening fitted with a transparent polycarbonate diffuser. The Maranga collection is available in two diameters, 13-inch and 20-inch, and includes floor, table, suspension, and ceiling models.
