Showing at London Design Festival 2013, the ZH Lamp series combines traditional Chinese weaving with contemporary aesthetics. Produced by Chinese designer Xian Zhang in collaboration with three craftswomen-Jiping Xu, Hongping Huang and Guiru Sun-the ZH lamps feature traditional bamboo strip weaving over chinaware, a technique that originated in the Sichuan Province.

Now turned into lamps, the traditional Chinese strip weaving takes on a new dimension. The combination of bamboo and chinaware gets special focus when the ZH Lamps are illuminated. Delicate and geometric, the strip weaving technique satisfies people with both an appreciation for craftsmanship and a sensibility for simple forms.
