Philips extends its Hue Family

Philips extends its Hue Family

At the end of last year we reported on the launch of Hue by Philips, the world's first web-enabled LED home lighting system. This week, Philips is launching the Friends of Hue product line with two new innovations that integrate and work seamlessly with the Hue lighting system.

LivingColors Bloom and LightStrips are two new Friends of Hue products that use connected LED technology to bring a more immersive experience with saturated colors to the home.

LivingColors Bloom ($80) is a compact and portable lamp that can be placed on either the floor, counter, shelving or wherever it’s needed. With the Bloom you can add accents to your home, light a space with a splash of color, or wash a wall with stunning, deep shades.

The second innovation is the flexible LightStrips ($90). These 6.6 ft. strips of  lighting, which can be cut to size, have an adhesive sticker on the back allowing you to attach it to any solid surface. It's designed to deliver 'indirect' colored light and can be bent and fixed in whichever way you need – to run along a shelf to add depth to the ambience of a room, under the TV to accentuate your viewing experience or simply wrap it around a favorite painting.

Both products, along with the growing world of apps designed to leverage Hue's potential, expand the options for the ways we entertain with music and experience video games as well. Unlike Hue, which also produces white light, LivingColors Bloom and LightStrips are meant to compliment Hue to create a more ambient experience through colored light.

Hue and its family of products will be available at Apple stores from Thursday 8 August 2013. For more information about hue and its capabilities, please visit www.meethue.com
