Modern Wing Chairs: Contract Trend
"My intention was to design a relaxing armchair, respecting classic traditions but at the same time mixing modern influences," says Patrick Norguet of his P22 for Cassina. Norguet isn’t the only designer rethinking the classic wing chair design for a modern audience. Check out new designs taking flight in contract interiors:
P22 by Cassina: Available in fabric and leather upholstery, Norguet’s P22 armchair for Cassina is supported on cast aluminium legs. The chair’s curving backrest creates a cocoon for added privacy. www.cassina.com
Ro by Jaime Hayon for Fritz Hansen: Designer Jaime Hayon studied the way people use seating in the modern world before designing Ro for Fritz Hansen. The 1 1/2-seater provides room for the user to move around or have a book, laptop, or child by her side. www.fritzhansen.com
PARCS | Wing-Series by Bene: With a high back and wings to provide privacy in social and business settings, Bene’s wing chair also swivels to make the transition between individual and group seating easier. THe series includes sofa seating as well. www.bene.com
Elixir by Leolux: An angular take on the classic wing chair form, Elixir has adjustable headrest and seat positions for added comfort and privacy. It is also available with a complementary footrest. www.leolux.com
Stealth by Johanson Design: The wing chair takes on a futuristic form with Johanson Design’s Stealth chair. Its angled surfaces create a unique appearance and ergonomic comfort. www.johansondesign.com
