Delft Collection by New Ravenna Mosaics
Drawing inspiration from Dutch Delftware, the Delft Collection from New Ravenna Mosaics is a exploration of crisp blues on white backgrounds. Founder and creative director, Sara Baldwin has created five new mosaics depicting floral, 17th century French Chinoiserie, and classical Roman pineapple border designs.
Each mosaic uses the traditional hand cut method to shape individual pieces of glass.
Baldwin has memories of her mother’s treasured blue and white porcelain. “I remember the beautiful blue and white china my mother brought home from Nova Scotia. It was made in England and was so fresh in its simplicity. It is always inspiring to design with a limited palette, this collection allowed me to explore the myriad of blues beyond the original cobalt used in Delftware.”
Baldwin continues, “This is a color combination that has its roots in much of the world, from the Middle and Far East to practically all of Europe. Here we immediately think of warm beaches and cool coastal interiors. The Delft Collection is our modern American interpretation of a centuries old familiar craft, which we hope will create memories for the next generation.”
The Delft Collection is available in jewel glass or natural stone. In glass it is suitable for vertical interior installations. In stone, the mosaics can be installed indoors or out on both floors and walls.
