Raised in both Vermont and Seattle, Forrest Lesch-Middelton brings a harmonious range of geographic influence to his pottery. "Having lived both in the city and in the country, as-well-as the eastern and western United States, I have developed a great appreciation for the social and the solitary influences that have inspired my work," he writes on his web site. Now, Cl© Tile will bring Lesch-Middelton’s first-ever tile design to the market. Named Origins, the bears the potter’s attention to historic influence in a new format that will fit clients’ wish for eclectic and unique surfaces in homes and hotels.

Lesch-Middelton funded his tile-making project via Kickstarter. (The campaign still has a few days to go, but has already exceeded its $20,000 goal.)

“I began this series of tile to honor the places that have most inspired my artwork,” explains the artist on the crowd-funding site. “The patterns I employ have a lineage that is as old as time, and many of the places they come from have become a footnote in history; their artworks looted, and cultures filtered through the lens of media.”

The Origins line evokes the feeling of an archaeological find with a palette of tone-on-tone whites and browns. All tiles are available in 3, 4-, and 6-inch squares, with patterns that repeat ever 12 inches. Custom tiles are also available. Click here for specification information.
