Spanish lighting group B.Lux is looking to widen its energy-efficient products with Aktis, a new spot light created by Italian designer Marco Bisenzi. Aktis, meaning beam of light in ancient Greek, is simple and versatile enough for "all kinds of spaces, including in the home."

Aktis has many features that focus on light quality. It projects light wherever it's needed, and it distributes the beams to avoid glare. The lamp's nine 3W CREE LED bulbs spread light, diffusing the light source so as to cast a even glow.

Made of injected ABS, Aktis is available in three finishes: gloss chrome, matte white, and nickel. It is the lamp's form, however, that commands attention. Since it's a flush lamp, it requires little recession space in the ceiling. Better yet, Bisenzi's design features organic lines and futuristic simplicity: Aktis hovers overhead like a gleaming spaceship or constellation of stars.
