Eric Degenhardt

has taken inspiration from the humble wooden gate to create a smart extendable table for German brand Böwer that was launched at imm Cologne in Germany last month.

Sturdy and noble, Gateleg is an extendable table with a simple swing gate mechanism.

The minimalist Gateleg table rests upon a fixed angular support at one end and an articulated support at the other. The articulated support folds out into a right angle to provide support for an extra 70cm of table top, which extends Gateleg’s length from 160cm to a generous 230cm. Available in MDF or ash, the design takes its name from its strong gate-like characteristics.
