SleepBox by Caspar Lohner in HI-MACS
It is well known that taking short power naps throughout the day can be beneficial for the body as well as the mind. However, busy modern lifestyles don’t always allow for such a luxury. In response to this problem Caspar Lohner from the ETH University in Zurich designed Sleepbox, a modern piece of furniture designed specifically to facilitate napping.
A sinuous life-sized object which creates a place of comfort and relaxation within airports, offices or other semi-public spaces.
The uniquely-shaped design caters to the demands of an increasingly urbanized environment by providing a haven of peace and quiet. The Sleepbox’s solid, smooth and uniform shell is made of HI-MACS®, and contains a leather covered mattress. The design is produced by Kläusler Acrylstein AG, the exclusive distributor for HI-MACS® in Switzerland.
The outer part of the shell is strong enough to also serve as seating.
