Happy 50th: FLOS releases Arco LED
Do you remember the day your grandfather bought a hybrid? That’s a little how we felt when we learned that FLOS has released Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni’s era-defining Arco lamp with LED technology.
Arco’s form hasn’t changed, but its carbon footprint just got a little smaller.
FLOS’s best-known lamp provides direct and indirect light from a spun aluminum reflector at the tip of a curved and adjustable stainless steel stem supported by a marble base. Now, consumers have the choice of incandescent ($2,950) or LED ($3,250) illumination with no change in the form of the lamp. The LED option comes with a Multichip LED 2700K CRI 93 – 18W and soft transitioning dimmer.
This year, both the Arco lamp and FLOS mark their 50th birthdays. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate aging gracefully, and sustainably, than with a cake full of LED candles.

About the Manufacturer: In 1971 FLOS opened its first subsidiary in Germany. In 1974 it purchased Arteluce, a historical brand founded in 1939 by Gino Sarfatti, and opened a new factory in Bovezzo, just outside the city of Brescia. During the 1990s the lighting company expanded its contract-related presence, launching a division focused on turnkey solutions. Piero Gandini, Sergio’s son, has been FLOS President and CEO ever since 1999. The tradition of collaborating with highly-talented professionals also extends to FLOS promotional activities.
