Fueled on by the excitement of the Olympics, the popularity of gold and other metallic finishes in interiors looks set to be a big trend for Fall. With perfect timing, Californian company cl© has introduced a new range of metallic tiles made by three international tile artisans. Made in porcelain, ceramic and limestone, the tiles have been painted, glazed, and printed with a glimmer of silver, gold, iron, platinum or copper.

Each artist has incorporated a shimmer of metal into their design in their own distinctive style – from the manipulation of intense heat to delicate brush strokes.

Italian artist Adriano Ricchetti at Il Monile has devised a way to create incredible textural gold, iron, platinum, and silver surfaces for his Byzantina rectangle series.

From her potter’s studio in Cornwall, England, Brenda Bates has designed the Celtic Sea-inspired Welbeck coast collection. Resembling ancient fossils, each tile is delicately painted with a Starfish, in 24 k gold and platinum.

Bates has also created the Welbeck Platinum Collection; a study in abstraction, using metallic to define irregular shapes. The weight of the precious metals against the delicate translucent glaze causes the random crackled surface.
