High-Tech By Hand: Spiro and Raindrop by LZF
Handmade doesn’t have to mean low-tech. That’s the message LZF is bent on spreading from its workshop in Valencia, where the lighting manufacturer’s artisans use the latest equipment to combine old-world craftsmanship with new abilities to bend patented Polywood natural wood veneers into modern shapes.
A “post-artisanal” philosophy continues to produce pieces like the new Spiro and Raindrop lamps
This year, LZF is introducing two new suspension lamps: the Spiro and the Raindrop. Spiro, designed by Remedios Simón, uses a new Polywood molding process to create a modern interpretation of decorative latticework. The exterior is available in four finishes, the interior in eight.
The Raindrop is the latest design from Javier Herrero for LZF. Its fine wood veneer forms a cocoon around a glass globe. Available in four sizes and eight finishes, the drops can be arranged in groups in contract interiors. The lamp is also available in an extra-large size upon request.
