CP Lounge Collection by Charles Pollock for Bernhardt Design
Designed by 82-year old Charles Pollock, the cp.1 and cp.2 chairs for Bernhardt Design are proof that good design is timeless and that true talent never fades.
The chair is Pollock’s first new product launch in America since the debut of his iconic Pollock Chair for Knoll forty-seven years ago.
Pollock, a self-confessed workaholic, boasts a career that spans over 70 years. He started out as a teenager working for the Detroit Chrysler factory and went on to become one of America’s greatest Modernist designers, working with legendary names such as George Nelson and Florence Knoll.
After keeping a low-profile for almost 30 years, Bernhardt Design President Jerry Heller tracked Pollock down to learn about his story and ask him if he would consider designing a chair for him. Pollock accepted Heller’s offer and the result is the sleek and simple cp.1 and cp.2 chairs.
The seat and back of the cp.1 are upholstered in individual hand-quilted panels of felt, suede or leather, and large loop stitching is used around the perimeter of the chair. The cp.2 can be upholstered with any Bernhardt fabric or with the customer's own material. Both chairs rest upon an elegant polished stainless steel frame.
