At NeoCon 2012: UrbanShade by MechoSystems
MechoSystems was born out of a troubling situation. A building in Atlanta, Georgia with floor-to-ceiling windows needed shades, which led to the birth of the roller shade system. More than forty years later, the company continues to specialize in solar shading products. Now more than ever, MechoSystems shades are found in many projects with LEED certification: “MechoShade is in the forefront of energy efficient solar shading design at the window wall to achieve personal, thermal, and visual comfort in conjunction with the more efficient use of natural resources.” The company’s UrbanShade system has a new model that’s being exhibited at NeoCon 2012: the UrbanShade Double-Bracket System.

Double-Mounted Roller Shades Control Light and Reduce Cost
The new two-shade band system accommodates any combination of two UrbanShades: two motorized, two manual, or one motorized and one manual. This new addition to the UrbanShade family is as cost-effective as it is aesthetically pleasing. Two individual tubes are offset-mounted on a single bracket, a design that eliminates the need for two brackets, thereby minimizing labor, installation time, and cost. The UrbanShade Double-Bracket allows users to darken a room completely or allow views to the outside while still providing solar protection. These two options and its two shades make the product twice as nice.
As with the rest of the UrbanShade line, this new offering can be fitted with a manual chain-driven system, wireless-controlled battery-powered motorized system, or WhisperShade® IQ® ultra-quiet motorized system. UrbanShade has a sleek design that’s easy to install, and it allows for small edge clearances, making it a great choice for conference rooms, media rooms, and home theaters. Its heavy-duty hardware has stainless steel components with a matte finish, and the shades can be removed easily for maintenance. The UrbanShade Double-Bracket System offers all the style of the system at less cost—it will have you doing a double take.

About the Manufacturer: MechoSystems began in the late 1960s when a large building project in Atlanta, Georgia involved a unique set of constraints: the building needed shades that were not Venetian blinds, did not have hanging cordage, and would not stack in the window bay. Thus the first manual roller shade system was invented, which was named MechoShade, and this product launched MechoSystems. The company specializes in “creative solutions to brightness, glare and solar control problems.” It is the only company dedicated solely to the design and manufacture of single source solar shading products.
