Encompassing three distinct patterns and 20 different colors, Momentum Textiles’ In Motion Collection is an exciting assortment of geometrical designs inspired by contemporary dance. In conceiving of the collection, designer Emily Garcia was compelled to capture the contrasting qualities of movement and stasis: “the combination of intense precision and fluid spontaneity.” Garcia’s bold stylistic imperative is manifest in the dynamic concentric rings of Torque, the bold linearity of Elevate, and the subtle and smooth articulations of Flection.

Bold, Kinetic Contract Fabrics

Torque features dynamic rings against a solid background. Available in seven colors, Torque works as a focal point in brights such as Clementine and Skylight or as a coordinating fabric in neutrals such as Blackest and Quarry. With 42 percent post-consumer recycled polyester, Torque is an especially good choice for eco-conscious clients. All In Motion patterns are Crypton Green, in fact, a high-performance fabric with reduced environmental impact.

Elevate has solid and striated horizontal bars arranged in a scattered pattern that mimics dancers leaping across a stage. Strong colors make Elevate daring: Sunspill, which is yellow with white, and Ocean Deep, in blue with lime, will draw the eye to this “strikingly unique textile.” Flection is the most ornamental of the In Motion fabrics, with a motif reminiscent of Moorish tiles or Gothic windows. In Anjou, Tango, and Limoncello, the sinuous lines seem to dance.

The three fabrics of the In Motion Collection present a paradox: they are “both sleek and soft.” Like dancers in motion, these “seemingly contradictory” textiles are fluid yet strong.
