Bedroom in a Box by Rolands Landsbergs for Boxetti
A Murphy bed is one thing but Rolands Landsbergs’ design of Bedroom in a Box for Boxetti has established an entirely new realm for the foldaway furniture concept. The Latvian-based Landsbergs—whose forte is creating furniture, showroom, and exhibition displays—devised B in a B with three basic principles in mind: “functionality, advanced technologies and contemporary aesthetics of minimalism.”

Bedroom in a Box is a Suite of Stylish, Space-Saving Furniture
One glance at Bedroom in a Box and users will see that the brief for contemporary aesthetics has been fulfilled. In the “hideaway” incarnation, Landsbergs’ modules are simple, gleaming white cubes, albeit, each sporting the enigmatic feature of zig-zagging seemingly randomized lines from top to bottom.
Each module opens upon these very contours to unveil what lies beneath—in no particular order, a bedroom set complete with double bed, nightstand, and wardrobe; a workshop module with a foldaway desktop, bookshelves, and upholstered “chill out niche” with a smaller desk; and, lastly, a living space module containing a three-seat couch and occasional tables.
As one readily infers, the concept is simple enough. It’s a notion designers have aspired to for decades—how to get large furnishings out of the way when not in use, thus creating a literal and figurative sense of openness that will please fans of minimalism to no end—the trick has been to actually achieve it.
By creating a fully hide-away bedroom suite with a definitively minimalistic style, Bedroom in a Box exceeds the expectations of space-saving aficionados everywhere: “Bedroom in a Box obtains an unobstructed and comfortable space—free of uselessness.
Boxetti offers Bedroom in a Box with several finish options, including multiple colors of upholstery in leather or fabric.
