It’s about time lighting companies focused their attention on outdoor lighting. On any given night, take a look around any city in virtually any country, and you will see hideous, noisy, glaring lights—in parking lots, flanking streets, on grand avenues, and so on. But Cree, a pioneer in LED lighting and technologies (their first lighting-class LED emerged in 1989), offers unique and functional outdoor lighting—and it uses energy-saving LEDs to boot. Aeroblades Luminaire works for roadway and pedestrian applications, and I’d be happy to stroll or drive past it any day. Like something out of Batman, Aeroblades is sleek, dark, and sexy: each blade has the streamlined linearity of a jet wing. Constructed of die-cast aluminum, Aeroblades is also modular, available in two, four, or six-blade configurations. The design provides “a contemporary accent to streets”—and its dimming option and Dark Sky Association Compliance make it even more attractive.
Besides its avant-garde style, Aeroblades Luminaire might help you sleep better at night, since “properly-illuminated streets have also been shown to help reduce crime rates.” For pedestrian applications, this afforded safety is even more necessary. The company has over 20 years experience with LEDs and was the first to market “lighting class” LEDS, which are bright enough to use as task lighting.
