A Job for Studio Job: The Gothic Dining Chair by Moooi
While its name ‘Gothic’ raises many an eyebrow, the ten brilliant shades of rotation-moulded polyethylene that make the chairs by Moooi go beyond surprising. “Studio Job designed the Gothic Chair for the recently renovated Groninger Museum, in the Netherlands, where they also designed the interior for the Job Lounge and other areas of the museum,” writes Moooi of the recent, dynamic addition to the manufacturer’s selection of ‘seaters’.

A Not-So-Gothic Dining Chair in Ten Different Colors
“Nothing like a dash of color to dissipate medieval gloom,” was an appropriate observation made by Interior Design of the reverse psychology dealt by designers Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel of Studio Job. And with that, the dining chair’s name is just a name that plays with its sturdy, castle-like appearance.
Symbolic of nothing remotely similar to the somber, gothic-style cathedrals or the intense black hair dye, eyeliner and kilts of a modern-day gothic crowd, the gorgeous ten shades of Gothic dining chairs by Studio Job are as sincerely bright as they appear.
Factor in the six choices of color offered in ABS plastic buttons that can contrast or match any of the chair’s colors, and they’re the ultimate palette for setting up and entire room. The 35.4″H x 17.5″W x 18.1″D (with a seating height of 18.1″) Gothic chair comes in light grey, dark grey, blue, brown, white, yellow, red, orange, pink and green.
“Studio Job has re-interpreted the solid wood and romantic elegance of the Gothic style and presented a playful, light chair,” writes Moooi of the dining room chair that woos our dark side into a state of indoor/outdoor delight.
