Multi-Layered Wood with Cast Iron Legs Makes the Sangirolamo Bookcase Versatile for All Things Education
Classified as a table, a desk and a bookcase by designers Achille Castiglioni & Michele De lucchi for Poltrona Frau, this contract furnishing is described on the company website as being “so essential as to be almost austere.” Made up of sixteen open storage cabinets (with other sizes also available) the furnishing system was createdin 2006 to meet the needs of the classroom with its lightness and structure that can withstand the constant attention of books, mail, etc.
Made from a thick multi-layered wood, the Sangirolamo Bookcase sits on top of slim cast iron legs that are kept sturdy by its thick top of layered compartments. The black walnut finish adds a darkened feel to its wooden top that can be painted a bordeaux red if desired, says Poltrona Frau. With four different sizes available in an oval or square top, it’s clear that the versatility of its design morphs easily from one function to another as easily as it does from different shapes and sizes.
