The AC Executive Desk by Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia
As we've seen in earlier posts (Ray and Jean Armchairs, Unix Chair, and the Suita Sofa), designer Antonio Citterio has a tendency for the essential. This is to say that once he takes on a design challenge he inhabits the notion (and the product) with a fidelity seldom seen. So when he set out to design an office suite-and with no little measure of pride and self confidence-he chose the name "Executive." The moniker is well chosen to say the least, for the Executive Collection for B&B Italia embodies all that is impressive about "The Big Boss."

Citterio's Executive is not constrained to a single desk, though the AC Executive Desk could be construed as the show-stopper among this full suite of storage units, bookcases, and tables. The long, lean, supple AC Executive Desk is constructed of ebony and oak veneers-an arresting palette that's high on style and even higher on the authority quotient.
Not that all executives must act like them, but the AC Executive Desk lets you have it both ways. The piece is large and formidable, but it also has copious quantities of negative space, creating an overall aesthetic that's impressive without being overbearing: classic and cool, yet definitely all business.
Other features of the accompanying pieces in Citterio's Executive Line include integrated cable grommets for tabletops; lockable drawers in the storage units; and optional wardrobe elements for coats, umbrellas, and other assorted accoutrements of high powered execs.
