MePas Metal Panels by Caino Design
As a confirmed admirer of old architecture, every time I'm in one of those cavernous old Victorians in my native Colorado mountains I gaze skyward to observe the trademark early 20th. century pressed tin. This impressive surfacing material gives these old interiors a distinctive aesthetic. Until today, I though its ilk was a thing of the past-leave it to Caino's MePas Metal Panels to show me otherwise.
MePas Metal Panel. Designed and Manufactured by Caino Design.
Caino's MePas Metal Panels Are Like Etchings in Thin Air
Caino's MePas panels may suggest those beautifully decorative old ceiling adornments, but they're definitely in a class all their own. In fact, they seem rather as if some metaphysical metalsmith had lifted the printed designs form their metal backing and reproduced them in thin air.
In reference to the particular technology used to create these incredibly intricate, Picasso-esque panels, Caino says only that "the metallic material is processed like an embroidery, representing detailed or high-resolution linear and bas-relief designs." Though this doesn't really give us the technological truth behind MePas, it is an apt metaphor.
In fact, "embroidery" is the perfect descriptor for these amazing magic tricks in stainless steel, these astounding illusions of gossamer metal. MePas panels are constructed of extremely thin metal plates, thus allowing the fabricators to create intricate styles and shapes-everything from a whisper-thin decorative tableaux that resembles a fine silk tablecloth, to a profusion of streams that looks like an agglomeration of iridescent amoeba.
Available in standard sizes (500x500mm, 500x2400mm, 500x2700mm, and 500x3000mm), the marvelous MePas metal panels work in a variety of applications-wall coverings, room partitions, decorative panels, and curtains.
About the Manufacturer: A new brand created by the STV Group, Caino Design has been launched with a specific objective: to make and market the marvelous MePas Metal Panels. This new collection of decorative art pieces and room dividers is the perfect product to demonstrate Caino Design's philosophy of hands-on artisanal design: "The Caino project refers to the most prestigious instances of “product oriented” industrial design, where starting from the production process (the know-how) new products are developed with a cross-discipline approach through innovations in technology, process and style."
