Crystal Clear: Luí by Gallotti & Radice
There seem to be two philosophies when it comes to keeping office spaces neat. The first is to have enough drawers and storage to hide everything away. The second is to force yourself to keep things neat by having streamlined desks and transparent materials. Those who prefer the latter idea will appreciate Luí by Italian furniture company Gallotti & Radice.
Luí Desk. Designed by Paolo Maria Fumagalli. Manufactured by Gallotti & Radice.
Modern Glass, Wood, and Stainless Steel Desk
The Luí Desk is designed by Paolo Maria Fumagalli, who created it with a 12mm transparent tempered glass top. The glass gets highlighted by the use of two complementary materials—wood and stainless steel. The glass sits atop a simple expanse of natural ash, wengé stained, white or black open pore lacquered bottom shelf, which is available with or without two simple, sleek drawers—ideal for paper or slim electronics. Below this layer, the Luí Desk features a geometric stainless steel base in a bright or matte finish. The shape of the stainless frame and legs recalls tree branches in winter.
For additional visual interest, Luí comes with an optional felt pad available in different colors. The lime green, in particular, complements the wood and stainless steel—and gives the desk an understated but vibrant punch of color.
