Tracy Glover’s Monopoint Pendants to Debut at Boutique Design New York
Every so often I happen across a product that I immediately categorize as requisite inventory in my future fantasy house—the one my wife and I will compile and assemble once money is no object. Of course, if we were actually to scrimp and save in the real world of limited finances we might choose one of artist Tracy Glover’s lovely Monopoint Pendant Lamps as the one and only fantasy acquisition.

The Exquisite Colorways and Sublime Patterns of Tracy Glover’s Handblown Monopoint Pendants
Glover’s work has rightly seen front and center in these pages before. Previous write-ups on her Jewelbox System of Handblown Pendants and her gorgeous Globe Ceiling Lamp have showcased her aesthetic singularity and her skill with the form.
If you’ve seen (and felt) glass blowing up close, you’ll appreciate the scope of Glover’s talent, for manipulating molten glass into such mesmerizing forms as the Fishbowl, Barrel, and Enoki Pendants—each with a uniformity of shape and dimension that approaches perfection and defies explanation—seems like magician’s work indeed.
And glassblowers must have that prestidigitist’s strain, at least to some degree. It’s present in Glover’s work not only in the way she has mastered the form, but also in how she integrates color and style. Beyond the three silhouettes, Glover offers the Monopoint Series in six patterns, twenty colorways, fifteen solids, choice of LED or halogen bulbs, and two metal finishes (antique bronze or steel).
The dictates of time and space preclude full enumeration of the above, so suffice it to say that there are spiraling starbursts and candy-colored stripes; languid lace and two-toned temptations; interplay of complementary colors and startling juxtaposition of contrary ones. In short, a veritable feast of textural and stylistic indulgence—one that makes you want to see and touch and, such do these resemble perfect translucent panes of glass candy, even taste.
Tracy Glover’s series of Monopoint Pendant Lamps premiers at Boutique Design New York , November 13-14 at the Javits Center, Booth 2866.
About the Designer: After her daily sunrise row on Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay, artist Tracy Glover sets to work in her glassblowing studio, creating the most amazing collection of handblown glass accessories, pendant lights, table lamps, floor lamps, and wall lamps you’ll ever see. Glover’s pieces run the aesthetic gamut—from teardrop pendants to voluminous barrel-style shades to lovely, linked cascading glass balls: “Her skill is first as expert craftsman, using time-honored Venetian glassblowing techniques. Then there is her color sense: playful, lighthearted, fresh; marrying hues in triplicate for her wonderful cane striped patterns.”
