I have enjoyed watching design in healthcare bloom into a sophisticated, chic adult on par with its counterparts corporate and hospitality design.  It’s been pleasantly surprising (and fortunately, not often) to walk into healthcare facility and take notice of a well-designed interior with elegant, modern and comfortable finishes. So, when I heard that the Esprit Collection, designed by Lori Roop for CF Stinson, won a Nightingale Award for privacy curtain fabric, I was curious to learn more about a product that plays an important detail in healthcare interiors.

With a breakthrough in performance and sustainability, Esprit’s technical benefits for three of its patterns Water Lily, Flower Shower and Windswept include A.M.Y. Technology, which is a natural element antimicrobial built into the fibers and permanently inhibits the growth of odor causing bacteria, mold and mildew on the protected surface of the fabric. Esprit’s fourth pattern, Family Tree, is constructed using Eco-Intelligent® Antimony Free Polyester that is MBDC certified Gold for its content, is recyclable, and can contribute to the certification process for LEED® projects.

The Nightingale Awards is a juried competition showcasing excellence and innovation in healthcare product design.  The annual program, sponsored by Contract magazine, The Center for Health Design and Healthcare Design.11, aims to promote and recognize product design that contributes to the quality of healthcare.
