Floating, Flowing Sink: Reflex Sunrise Vessel by Xylem
Not too long ago, on an episode of HGTV's What You Get for the Money, a strange (for lack of a better word) couple spent a lot of money redoing their master bath, and they chose to put in a dark monolithic vessel sink made of green marble. It looked like a fount where gorgons might bathe. In short, it was ugly. I had never seen such a poor treatment of the vessel sink-a bath fixture that usually looks classic and simple, and whose essential characteristic is lightness.
Reflex Sunrise Vessel. Manufactured by Xylem.
Deep Red Tempered Glass Sink
In stark contrast to that green horror, the Reflex Sunrise Vessel by Xylem is a beautiful sink whose shape, material, and color all work in harmony. The deep red hue of the tempered glass resembles the warm striations of color in an autumn sunrise. It's closer to garnet than ruby and, for that reason, can be paired with anything from neutral browns to gleaming blacks. The Reflex Sunrise Vessel would also complement the clean white stylings of subway tile or a playful backsplash of multi-colored glass mosaic.
At 16.5" in diameter and 6" in height, this vessel sink by Xylem is small enough to use in powder rooms and smaller baths. Anyone who has visited the Mercer House in Savannah, with its dark red guest bath tucked beneath the stairs-a room that makes you feel as if you've entered a glass of Merlot-knows that Reflex Sunrise would fit in perfectly.
