An Innovation for the Indoor Fireplace: Wall Flame by Radius Design
From the broad fiery expanse of Spark Modern Fire’s Linear Flamescape, to the contemporary Savvy of the A6DS Horizontal Fireplace, to the traditional Scandinavian comforts of Attika’s Wood Fireplace, 3rings has profiled its fill of variations on this theme of home and hearth. But I’ve never seen anything like Wall Flame 1 and 2 by Radius Design. This elegant new gas fireplace puts that inviting flame right out in the open—with but a thin glass panel between you and its warming embrace.

Wall Flame Represents a New Approach to the Contemporary Fireplace
Strictly speaking, Wall Flame is not a fireplace at all, since that term connotes a large surrounding containment structure. To the contrary, the crucial innovation of Wall Flame is that it does away with the traditional stove structure, thus saving copious amounts of space while establishing a bold new aesthetic.
The combination of Wall Flame’s slick appearance and space-saving acumen will win over most consumers, but the kicker is the product’s sustainable ethos. Eschewing the typical gas fireplace supply of natural gas or propane, Wall Flame runs on eco-conscious bio-ethanol.
The appliance also boasts an efficient delivery process. Wall Flame’s combustion chamber houses a “ceramic sponge” that doles out the fuel at a methodical rate, assuring the long burn and beautiful, even flame that is Wall Flame’s trademark.
Both Wall Flame 1 and 2 offer a high-grade steel base plate and glass shield. Wall Flame 1 features a one-piece curved mounting system, while Wall Flame 2’s rear piece is shielded in glass. Both styles are easy to install. They’re safe and user friendly (“a guaranteed inflammable wall-mounted corpus”), and they’re available in many different materials and colors—including tinted glass, high-gloss stainless, and brushed or powder coated steel.
About the Manufacturer: Managing Director Michael Rösing likens the philosophy of Radius Design to a pithy quote by writer Paul Valéry: “the best in the new corresponds to an old need.” That’s Rösing’s way of suggesting that—in spite of an apparent glut of A&D products—there are yet many niches to fill. Just so, Radius Design specializes in filling these gaps by “making cultural and technological advances applicable to products.” The Radius line includes everything from ethanol fireplaces, to an extraordinarily portable bookrack, to the leanest collection of outdoor lounge furniture you’ll ever see.
