The C Series Seating and Tables by Rooshad Shroff
So new to the scene the collection doesn’t even have a website, C series is an exciting new series of seating and table designs by the Cornell and Harvard-trained architect, Rooshad Shroff.
The Cantilevered and Asymmetrical C Series uses old Burma Teak wood
Based in Mumbai, Shroff focused his efforts on the C-Series collection of furniture pieces by falling back on a cantilever design using handmade wooden joinery. When done well, cantilevered architecture draws out the same awe-inspiring effect on design aficionados as a talented soccer player executing an elegant bicycle kick: stunning, to say the least, and definitely something that requires proper structural training.
“I’m primarily focusing on using recycled old Burma Teak wood and working with fine craftmanship whereby each of the pieces are completely handmade using traditional wooden joinery techniques,” says Shroff of his standard (or custom) sizes of C Series chairs, benches, stools, coffee tables, and dining tables that require no screws, metal fasteners, or power tools to construct. “A complete knockdown construction allows for all the pieces to be disassembled with ease, thus facilitating easy transportation and re-assembly.”
Smooth-finished and asymmetrical, the C Series furniture pieces complete the brand new line of seating and tables by Rooshad Shroff that score skill points with designers and architects alike.
About the Designer: Rooshad Shroff was trained as an architect at both Cornell and Harvard. With his Master’s in Architecture, he is now based in Mumbai where his extensive accomplishments venture out of straight building design and go right into the world of furniture/product design.
