From September 9-13, 2011, the Maison & Objet Fair will take place in Paris. Exhibiting his new desk at the show, London-based furniture designer Leonhard Pfeifer sought to create a desk "to look striking from any angle so it could sit in the middle of a room, instead of pushed up against a wall." A devotee of mid-century Modernism, Pfeifer favors clean lines and pure forms. His Ravenscroft Desk illustrates these aesthetic principles beautifully.

Clean & Modern Cross-Legged Desk

Produced in Estonia by furniture maker Woodman, Ravenscroft is an oak desk with a cross-leg design. It features a wide desktop, hidden cable access slots, filing compartments, and a raised rear surface intended for monitors. It shares some design elements with George Nelson's iconic Swag Leg Desk (now produced by Herman Miller)-namely, the two surface heights and the small niches.

About the Designer: Leonhard Pfeifer is a second-generation furniture maker who established his practice in 2003 in order "to follow his calling." Based in East London, Pfeifer is involved in branding projects as well as bespoke furniture commissions. Influenced by the Modernist Movement, Pfeifer likes "pure and geometric forms" created with fine detail. He brings "an enquiring mind and novel perception" to all of his endeavors.
