Verner Panton is perhaps best known for his pioneering design philosophy and notable creations like the Panton Chair and FlowerPot Lamp. It’s no surprise Design Within Reach (DWR), the retailer/showroom bringing modern, classic and clean design to the masses, rediscovered some of Danish designer’s iconic work in the Panton Estate archives and brought it back into production. The collection includes the iconic and versatile System 1-2-3 Chairs in multiple fabric options, bar and party essentials, ‘Fun’ pendant lighting and more.

Aesthetically similar to the organically shaped Panton Chair, the cantilevered System 1-2-3 Lounge Chair also offers springy support, great comfort and multiple upholstery options. The Dining Chair option is available with a swivel base for easy entry and exit from a dining table.

Panton grew interested and fond of portable, space-saving furniture after traveling the world. The Barboy, originally produced in 1963 and now available at DWR, is a prime example. The wheeled bar has three storage compartments that swing out for easy access to bottles, glasses and small accessories. The Party Set was designed in the same vain – compact, portable and functional. The five-piece set includes four stools with leather-upholstered seats and a table for food and drink. Because the table and stools fit neatly into a stack and includes wheels on the smallest unit, it can easily be stowed away when the party is over.

Panton also designed textiles for Swiss company Mira-X. Inspired by one of his textiles, Grande, Panton created the striking Panton Rug. The large, circular rug consists of gray and black circles and curves on viscose and polyester gauze.

His unique modern lamps, such as the VP Globe Glass, set Panton apart from his peers. The acrylic globe surrounds five white or colored plates, which reflect and diffuse light. Also available at DWR are the classic Onion Lamp and a series of ‘Fun’ pendants, sconces and table lamps.
