Johnny B. Butterfly Pendent by Ingo Maurer
Lighting prodigy Ingo Maurer infuses a simple light bulb with poetic exploration by creating the Johnny B. Butterfly pendent. Like a moth to a flame burned by the fire, the Johnny B. Butterfly pendent is perfect for setting the mood towards nature. Reminiscent of origami treasures, the pendent brings out the joys of searching for butterflies, dragon flies and lightning bugs. The light consists of a single halogen, wrapped with a white Teflon shade and swarmed by exceptionally detailed insects, handmade by United States artist Graham Owen. The delicate insects are each a work of art on their own. Their small bodies are full of life and invites viewers to continuously discover new elements. The bugs are placed directly on the bulb which conceals sources of light, creating an emission of colorful and diverse lumens.

Insects dancing to the joy of light will delight an interior. Dashes of green, blue and yellow painted on the butterflies and dragonflies displays the restraint and delicacy involved in producing this piece. This pendent is a wonderful compliment to the classic dragonfly fabric or motif. The Johnny B. Butterfly pendent will fit into any space where the designer wants to create a whimsical and light-hearted feel. Light and shadow converse as the insects create small shadows against the bulb and surrounding interior space. This pendent is the essence of bridging art and function.
