What Will You Stuff Inside Somnia by Vitamin Design?
Some time ago, everyone at 3rings had a lot of fun imagining what we’d put inside Pinch, an upholstered bed that lifts up to reveal storage underneath the mattress. Now Somnia is providing another opportunity for people to envision what to put in its available space. The solid wood bed by Vitamin Design comes equipped with a slanted headboard—and behind that, the bed offers a tray or display area.

Solid Wood Bed with Slanted Headboard
The maximum recess depth is 15 cm (approximately 5 7/8 in), which is enough of a cubbyhole for a lot of different items. Practical people might choose to stuff that space with blankets. The Vitamin Design website shows the area stuffed with yarn, ostensibly for avid knitters, and grass for the nature lovers. I like the idea of keeping books there, so you have bedtime reading at your fingertips. Who knows what else you might stash in there.
Somnia is available in standard sizes and oversized. You can opt for the wood finish you like, since it comes in a wide range of choices—everything from the light white oiled oak to the rich oiled wenge. For the true minimalist, Somnia comes in raw oak. For those who admire pattern, the zebrano finish is fabulous.
