For Your Health: Sieste by Nurture
I am undoubtedly not the only person out there who has had to spend the night at the hospital. For anyone who has had to suffer that particular brand of torture, note that there is a solution—and it’s not only comfortable, it’s also good-looking. The Sieste Sleeper Sofa by Nurture turns into a full size bed simply by flipping a cushion.

Comfortable Sleeper Sofa for Healthcare Environments
The idea comes from Nurture, the healthcare division of Steelcase, which designs its products “with a broadly appealing aesthetic and intelligent, intuitive features that address the needs of the end user.” And Sieste is a good example of this design philosophy. With no awkward or heavy internal structure, the sofa has “no mechanisms to break.” Sieste also comes standard with a center storage drawer beneath the cushion (blankets and pillows are likely candidates for this cubby). For a patient or waiting room in a hospital, Sieste serves a worthwhile purpose.
Available in three standard lengths (76”, 80”, and 84”), the Sieste Sleeper Sofa can also be customized for areas with smaller square footage. It comes with or without arms, and it works on multiple levels—in other words, you can sit or sleep on various of its surfaces. Wooden legs feature visible or hidden feet. Additionally, Sieste is part of a larger, flexible line that includes recliners, lounge chairs, and tables.
Besides the relief that the Sieste Sleeper Sofa gives hospital guests, it is also easy on the eyes. With “a clean, simple design profile that’s at home in a variety of healthcare environments,” this Nurture sofa does indeed improve one’s health—especially if you believe that good design can promote wellness.
