Palm by Klickity

The young minds at Dublin’s Klickity offer a playful lampshade made of 22 linking leaves. A self-assembly product, Palm is designed using only one material and only one manufacturing process, which makes the piece 100% recyclable. Part flower and part jellyfish, Palm’s pieces resemble petals or strings. Combined in a fanning structure, Palm’s parts float and dance with joyful movement.

When your Palm arrives, it includes an eight-step guide to help users put it together. Neither too small nor too large a lampshade, Palm has a diameter of 450 mm (approximately 18 inches), so it can be used alone or in clusters to achieve an interesting effect. The pendant shade is designed to be used with any low-watt, energy-saving bulb.

Palm’s plastic sheets, which compose the shade, are available in varied colors—white, gray, yellow, orange, red, and light blue—that can be combined either in monochromatic fashion or in interesting combinations. Besides solid white, orange, and yellow, Palm comes in two-tone arrangements such as red and white, red and orange, and gray and yellow. The more colorful treatments remind me of circus tents and variegated flowers.
