Haute Heat: The Splash Radiator by Christian Ghion for Runtal

When we meet a huge dog – like a male Bull Mastiff – who has been named Lady Gaga,  it plays with our idea that things should fit together. Designer Christian Ghion must enjoy this naming game in his designs as much as I do in meeting frilly-titled watchdogs. Recently, his fashion-savvy and sophisticated radiator design of was released by the Italian company, Runtal and although it looks to be anything but an aesthetic cannonball, it was named Splash.

The Heat is On! The Bold and Sophisticated Style of Runtal’s New Splash Radiator.

The innovative Splash radiator by Runtal is so elegant hanging on the wall it could be mistaken as a piece of Corian art. Heated by elements inside that respond quickly to electricity, the distribution of heat is also consistent. The supporting structure of the surface layer of decorative Corian houses these elements and is made of a natural graphite that is controlled by 750 watts of heating power.

The Splash can be placed horizontally or vertically on the wall – measuring 1230 mm x 750 mm x 78 mm – and is then adjusted by a programmable control unit. “Only when you touch and feel the heat radiating the work of art reveals a radiator,” says Runtal of the Splash. “The motif of concentric circles created by Christian Ghion resembles a drop of water falling makes gentle waves.”
