Dom by Domo
Designed specifically for “those areas that need to be endowed with a unique and unrepeatedable piece,” Dom is an aluminum pendant lamp that looks like a futuristic dome but also recalls the ancient vaults of classic architecture and the geodesic dome of Buckminster Fuller. Shiny and silver on the outside and soft and white on the inside, Dom balances a “rugged and functional appearance” with a warm and alluring inner finish.

Geometric and Warm Pendant Lamp
Dom is the work of Domo, the product design firm that’s associated with the architectural practice of Modo Architecture & Interiors, both headed by Christian Sintes Midmore and David Domínguez Fuster. Their idea is to endow their spaces with extraordinary objects such as Dom, which should “produce the feeling of being under a warm and poethic geometry”—yes, they said poethic, and I believe the word incorporates the poetic and the gothic (and Domo deserves points for that clever neologism).
Dom comes in two sizes, Dom and Small Dom. The suspension lamp is available from Noonbarcelona, which carries interesting and alluring lighting pieces (including Mina, a lamp inspired by the calla lily, which incidentally shares its name with one of my wonderful dogs).

About the Designer: Domo, a product design studio based in Barcelona, originated as an arm of the architectural practice of Modo Architecture & Interiors. Architects Christian Sintes Midmore and David Domínguez Fuster wanted to create unique products for their spaces—because they believe that “objects can and should be loved.”
