At NeoCon 2011: Sit Wood by Andreu World America

Due to the popularity of designer Lievore Altherr Molina’s Sit Chair, manufacturer Andreu World America is extending the line with new oak and beech versions. Sit Wood, available in neutral, light, and dark wood shades, “provides the warmth offered by natural woods.” As with the original Sit collection, Sit Wood offers lots of options: it is available as a side or arm chair, in different sizes, and with various bases. And Sit Wood maintains the essential characteristics of the collection: “Lightness, suppleness, synthesis, essence, and comfort.”

Stackable, Attractive, and Versatile Contract Chairs

While the Sit collection was originally created with thermo-polymer, making the color range quite broad, its simple design translates well into wood. The new, organic material is not only good looking, it is also environmentally responsible: Sit Wood is constructed using FSC certified wood. The chair base uses a metal tube and rod frame, in painted or matte chrome finishes.

Along with Sit Wood, Andreu World America has added other pieces and accessories to the Sit collection. They now offer ganging devices for the Sit chairs, which can be stacked 25 high. The “seating programme” also includes row and numbering systems, transport carts, and writing arms. Given the additions to the seating system, the multifaceted Sit is “capable of providing convincing answers in any contemporary installation,” from large contract spaces to intimate living rooms.
